PRIVACY NOTICE
Project Unloaded is committed to protecting the privacy of participants in its programs and projects. This privacy notice supplements our online Privacy Policy, available on the Project Unloaded website, and describes the information we collect from participants and how we will use it, protect it, and disclose it. If you do not agree to all the provisions in this privacy notice or the online Privacy Policy available on the Project Unloaded website (https://projectunloaded.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/FINAL-may-24_Project-Unloaded-Privacy-Policy-.docx.pdf), please do not participate or allow your child to participate in the Project Unloaded program.
YOU MUST SIGN A PERMISSION AND WAIVER FORM BEFORE PARTICIPATING IN OR ALLOWING PARTICIPATION BY YOUR CHILD IN THE PROJECT UNLOADED PROGRAM, AND THIS PRIVACY NOTICE IS PROVIDED SUBJECT TO ALL THE TERMS OF THAT PERMISSION AND WAIVER FORM, AND SUBJECT TO THE ONLINE PRIVACY POLICY.
WHO AND WHAT THIS NOTICE COVERS
This privacy notice applies to all participants in the Project Unloaded program, both those who provide information to Project Unloaded and its designees as part of one-on-one interactions and those who serve on any public-facing body such as the Project Unloaded youth advisory council. This privacy notice applies to all the personal information we collect from such participants, whether online or offline. For the avoidance of doubt, this privacy notice applies to information that may be used, directly or indirectly, to identify an individual (“personal information”).
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We will collect personal information from or about participants in the Project Unloaded program, which may include any of the following:
● Name, address, email address, date of birth, and telephone number of participants, which must be provided for every participant;
● Name, address, email address, and telephone number of a responsible parent or guardian, if the participant is a minor;
● Educational information and history, such as the name of participant’s school and current grade;
● Photographs, audio recordings, and video recordings of group and individual discussions to which participant is a party, where we have received consent to collect such information;
● Social media handles; and/or
● Any additional information that participant, or you as a parent or guardian, provides to us.
In addition, by participating in the Project Unloaded program, a participant may engage in facilitated discussions relating to topics relevant to Project Unloaded. In this open-ended discussion environment, we expect that participants might disclose personal details of their own and their family’s and community’s lives, including demographic information, names, political views, religious affiliation or beliefs, and gun ownership or possession in the home. This information may be considered sensitive information and is provided on a voluntary basis only.
HOW WE USE INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect personal information for business related purposes, including research, analysis, and presentation. We may also collect personal information to fulfill administrative functions associated with these services, for example entering into contracts with participants and/or third parties and managing participant relationships.
The purposes for which we usually collect and use personal information may include:
● To deliver the Project Unloaded program, including the SNUG (Safer Not Using Guns) or Guns Change the Story campaigns and associated information;
● To recruit participants and manage our relationship with participants and their parents;
● To obtain opinions or comments from participants;
● To devise future research and programs;
● At your direction and with your consent; and
● As otherwise described in our online Privacy Policy.
HOW WE DISCLOSE PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We may disclose personal information that identifies program participants individually, in accordance with the Permission and Waiver form.
We may otherwise disclose personal information that does not individually identify participants in the Project Unloaded program, as follows:
● To report our findings and conclusions subject to all the terms of the Permission and Waiver form and so long as the information shared does not identify any participant(s) individually;
● Within our company and with our affiliates;
● With service providers that perform Services on our behalf, including for the purposes of operating our website, assisting us to perform business functions, managing and updating participant lists and records, analyzing data, handling technical issues such as online video conferencing, and facilitating service to and engagement by you;
● With professional services such as legal advisors, accountants, and consultants; and
● With other parties as disclosed in the online Privacy Policy.
We do not sell participant personal information, except as disclosed in the Privacy Policy.
HOW WE PROTECT AND RETAIN INFORMATION
We maintain safeguards designed to protect personal information we maintain against accidental, unlawful or unauthorized destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure, or use. Despite such efforts, however, no organization can fully eliminate risks or guarantee the security of personal information. If you believe that your personal information has been accessed or used in an unauthorized manner, please notify us immediately.
We will hold your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes set forth in this privacy notice or as long as we are legally required or permitted to do so.
APPLICABLE LAWS
The personal information we collect from Project Unloaded participants may be collected, stored, and processed on servers anywhere in the world and may be transferred across borders to
facilitate storage or other processing. For further information about our data processing measures, please review the online Privacy Policy.
No child under 13 may participate in the Project Unloaded program, and we do not knowingly collect personal information about children under 13. If you believe we have information about your child who is under the age of 13, please notify us immediately at info@projectunloaded.org and we will delete it promptly and remove that child from the Project Unloaded program.
No person residing outside the United States may participate in the Project Unloaded program. We do not knowingly collect personal information from any person outside the United States.
Participation in the Project Unloaded program is entirely voluntary and at participant’s own risk.
ACCESSING AND CORRECTING PARTICIPANT PERSONAL INFORMATION
In some instances, you may request to review your or your child’s participant personal information maintained by us, require us to correct or delete the personal information, and/or refuse to permit us from further collecting or using that participant’s information, among other requests detailed in the online Privacy Policy. Exercising these choices may mean that a participant must withdraw from the Project Unloaded program.
You, or an agent authorized to act on your behalf, may submit a request by sending us an email at info@projectunloaded.org. To protect your privacy and security, we may require you to take certain steps or provide additional information to verify your identity before we provide any information or make corrections as described in our online Privacy Policy.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND AGREEMENT:
By signing below, I acknowledge that I have been provided a copy of the above “PRIVACY NOTICE”, have read it in its entirety, and understand its applicability to my (or my child’s) personal information. I consent to the collection of my (or my child’s) personal information, as a participant in the Project Unloaded program. To the extent that I would like to withdraw my consent, I shall email info@projectunloaded.org to withdraw my consent, and that withdrawal shall not apply to personal information collected prior to my communication withdrawing consent.
My typed name below constitutes my legal, binding signature and signifies my agreement to all the terms in the privacy notice and to the collection and use of information from me (and/or my child) as described in the privacy notice.
